Rocío Mesa is a filmmaker from Granada (Spain) based in the city of Los Angeles. She is known for being the director of the feature film Orensanz and the film showcase L.A. OLA.
SF- What do you think about the current cultural scene in Spain ?
RM- In terms of cinema, a new generation of filmmakers is producing some of the most internationally awarded films of Spanish history, developing groundbreaking work that challenges aesthetic and narrative conventions.
SF- What kind of projects for the internationalization of our culture do you find interesting ?
RM- I think is very interesting how the economic crisis in Spain forced a lot of artists to emigrate, so they are creating bridges for our culture. There are many festivals and showcases created by independent Spanish artists living abroad and wanting to give exposure to our rich culture and art.
SF- Tell us about the creative panorama in your city.
RM- I truly believe Los Angeles is currently the capital of the arts in the United States. I could talk for hours about the reasons behind this statement but I think is better to come visit and dance with me.

SF- ¿ Cómo ves la escena cultural española ?
En lo que se refiere al cine, una nueva generacion de directores esta produciendo algunas de las peliculas mas galardonadas internacionalmente de la historia del cine en España, desarrollando un trabajo rompedor que desafia esteticas y convenciones narrativas.
SF- ¿ Qué tipo de iniciativas de externalización de nuestra cultura te parecen interesantes ?
Creo que es muy interesante el hecho de que la crisis economica en España haya forzado la emigracion de muchos artistas, de ese modo se estan tendiendo muchos mas puentes para nuestra cultura. Hay un monton de festivales y muestras organizadas por artistas independientes Españoles que residen fuera y que quieren dar visibilidad a nuestra rica cultura y arte.
SF- ¿ Hablanos del panorama creativo en tu ciudad ?
Sinceramente creo que Los Angeles es en la actualidad la capital de las artes en Estados Unidos. Podria hablar durante horas de las razones detras de esta afirmacion pero creo que es mejor que vengais a visitarme y a bailar conmigo.
